Characters
Meet the heroes and legends of the Warden of Systems
The Warden
Protagonist
Summoned from Avalon Farm into a world of ancient magic. Possesses the ability to see and manipulate the world's underlying balance—lines and threads of power that connect everything. Wields Excalibur and has crossed the moral line of killing to protect those he loves.
Merlin
Loyal Companion
Originally a faithful dog, transformed by the summoning circle into a magical being. Can swell to horse-size with glowing chest and spectral mist. Fiercely protective, he has saved his companion multiple times and shares a deep magical bond.
Elira
Herbalist & Guide
A knowledgeable herbalist and trader who knows the ancient history of the First Weavers. Uses shimmering dust as a weapon and understands the true nature of relics. Chose to stay with the group despite the danger, recognizing their potential to "tilt the world."
The Caller
Antagonist
Claims to be "the last Weaver" and hoards relics while claiming they're dangerous. His scouts hunt the protagonist systematically. Possesses the same magical sight as the protagonist but uses it for control and oppression rather than understanding.
Tov
Thief & Informant
A wiry young thief in the bandit camp who befriended the protagonist. Claims to be the "best thief in the camp" and "worst cook." Provided crucial information about the camp's internal tensions and the Caller's system of dues and control.
The First Weavers
Ancient Builders
Ancient beings who "saw the world's bones" and tried to hold power in their hands. Built the temples, created relics, shaped rivers, and spoke with storms. Their fate is unknown—some say they succeeded, others say it broke them and scattered them like ash.
Character Development
Characters in Warden of Systems grow organically throughout the story. Starting as a duo, the protagonist and Merlin have encountered new allies like Elira and faced formidable foes like the Caller as they navigate the magical realm.
Each character brings unique perspectives to the hard magic system, from the protagonist's awakening magical sight to Merlin's transformation, Elira's knowledge of ancient history, and the Caller's corruption of power. The story explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the moral weight of wielding magical abilities.
Through 36 chapters, we've seen characters evolve from their initial states—the protagonist from ordinary person to someone who has crossed the line of killing, Merlin from simple dog to magical guardian, and Elira from cautious trader to committed ally in the fight against oppression.
